Layers of Meaning

I have so much admiration for the old sign painters. The guys who used to paint everything from gigantic billboards to panel truck sides. They understand how to paint and create an illusion with a minimum of effort and a lot of punch. Jerry’s Artarma has a great video of Chuck McLachlan demonstrating how to paint a hamburger and talking about painting 15 foot high hamburgers, back in the ‘old days’. You get the top view form the palette and canvas and can watch him pick up little flecks of paint or make broad strokes with a loaded brush. A great lesson on painting with economy of strokes!
